Val de Vie Events, Silver Service on a Silver Cloud
Posted by Val de Vie on Tuesday, August 31, 2010

The Events team recently took part and exhibited at the annual Bridal Expo hosted at Tygervalley.
The art gallery-inspired stand, which featured Val de Vie's vintage Rolls Royce Silver Cloud lll “1963”, drew the crowd’s attention and many brides-to-be’s day were made when they realised that they had found their perfect venue for their magical big day.
Many gents, old and young, spent time dreaming about owning the beautiful Mrs Rolls.
We truly enjoyed the Expo and we are excited and blessed to have bookings and enquiries for 2012.
It's going to be an incredible few years ahead and we are excited about the many “I do” moments that will take place on our amazing estate.
Valley of Life or Valley of grace is the English translation for Val de Vie and it's awesome to see two lives become one here on our island of green pastures and polo fields.
Raise your glass and let’s celebrate to the magical season ahead.

Today we are fortunate to have so many different fabrics that ensure that your tablecloth is not just a decor essential, but also something that can create that exact look for your big day.
Bold is beautiful. This thick stripe cloth is funky and fresh, bold and stylish. A bright colour works well or the alternative would be to play around with metallics to put extra focus on the faded black and white stripes.
To keep in mind:
Linen that has a stripe, thick or thin, should be perfectly layed to ensure a clean and well put together look.

If you are not a flower kind of girl then a patterned tablecloth is great to ensure that your tables look elegant and not too bare.
There are many fabrics that complement each other and a clever combination forms a flowing and consistent look..jpg)

White is white and it's back! White-on-white is fresh, crisp and so timeless. Indeed, if you're after a look that will still look amazing in 20 years from now, then white-on-white with crisp linen is for you.
Candlelight and creative coloured lights always look phenomenal and an entire look is transformed as the colours of the lighting shift and change.
Glass and crystal decor elements such as vases and candle votives also create a very "bling" effect.

Here's an idea that we absolutely love! Creative couple Rohan and Lurina are going to celebrate their wedding at Val de Vie in December, and the story behind their wedding is very special indeed.
As part of his proposal, Rohan designed a beautiful label for a Champagne bottle bearing the words "Suikerbossie, ek wil jou hĂȘ”, a line from a famous Afrikaans folk song. It's no surprise that Lurina was enchanted by the gorgeous design!
Visit the Design Indaba's website for more on this wonderfully romantic and creative gesture.

Val de Vie is thrilled to introduce our new winemaker, Harold Versfeld. He will oversee all winemaking processes together with Bruwer Raats (from Raats Family Vineyards) acting as a consultant.
Originally from Darling, Harold's qualifications include a B.Sc Agric Viticulture and Oenology, but winemaking has always been an important part of his life. As he says, "I am from an agricultural background, growing up on a wine farm in the Darling area, where we supply grapes to Neil Ellis, Nitida, Backsberg, Chamonix and Alexanderfontein. At school, I would work with my father every holiday, learning about the vineyard, and also how to work with the work force, to solve problems, and to think on my feet."
Only 27 years old, Harold winemaking experience includes participating in harvests in the Napa Valley, USA and Victoria, Australia, as well as working at D'Aria in Durbanville.
When he's not producing fine vintages, Harold's talents extend well beyond winemaking. As he puts it, "I am a team player and a sports fanatic, representing Paul Roos and Helderberg at first team level in both cricket and rugby. I also play golf and squash." When asked what he enjoys most in life, he lists people, travel, wine and good food. He also has a soft spot for dogs (Great Danes in particular!).
